700 posts to be offered to 1000 students in GTU Centralised Pharma Placement Fair

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will organise 5^th Centralised Pharmacy Placement Fair on 9^th and 10^th April, 2016. In the Placement Fair around 100 companies will offer 700 jobs to more than 1000 students. For the first time, the Placement Fair is being organised by GTU in association with Indian Drug Manufacturing Association (IDMA)-GSB, Food & Drug Control Administration (FDCA), Gujarat Ayurved Aushadh Manufacturers’ Association (GAAMA) and Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI). This is rare and unique association of Institute-Industry-Regulatory in Pharmacy field established in the state of Gujarat, Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor of GTU said.

Scenario in Pharmacy sector is changing. More job opportunities are emerging in the field. A meeting was held on 22^nd March, 2016 at Gujarat Technological University, Chandkheda Campus to finalise the strategy of next Placement Fair. Dr. Manish A. Rachchh, Head of Center of Pharmaceutical Studies and Drug Delivery Technology of GTU mentioned that situation is now changed and now more and more industries are coming to University for placement requirement and future of pharmacy will be really bright. GTU has started organizing Centralized Placement Fair for Pharmacy since 2014. This time also all major Pharma companies like Zydus Cadila, Torrent Pharma, Intas Pharma, Amneal Pharma, Troikaa Pharma, Lincoln Pharma, Apollo Pharmacy, Planet Health, HCG and other medium as well as small companies will participate.

Dr. C.N.Patel, Dean of Pharmacy faculty and member of Pharmacy Council of India said that there are 75 pharmacy colleges affiliated with GTU. We have made lots of progress to improve the syllabus of pharmacy & added concepts like innovation council and patent. Number of students reduced since last four years, but on the other side employment opportunities have been increased.

Dr. C.J.Shishoo, Ex- Director of B.V. Patel Pharmaceutical Education and Research Development (PERD) Centre and Ex-Principal of L.M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad said that India is third biggest drug manufacturer in the world, especially in generic drugs. Yet we need more pharmacists in the research & in clinical trial so that the drugs can be available at affordable rates.
